A Flashback

So when I was asked to come in and interview for the UTPA Head Women's Vball position, I jumped at the opportunity to visit my alma mater and former living area. Then I thought to myself "Why"? But, in the long run, I ended up coming to South Texas. The funniest thing about yesterday was pulling into the parking lot of the place I stayed on my recruiting trip 10 years ago. CRAZY! The Embassy Suites, McAllen. Talk about funny flashbacks! And for anyone interested, I start the interviews tonight, over dinner. Who knew!

Everything is BIGGER in Texas...haha

So, I am off to Texas today. Yipee Ki yea..haha. Seriously, I am off to Texas today to go to UTPA for 2 days. And even though my "valley family" will be in Austin until tomorrow, it should be fun. Once I get back I will be running with my head cut off until Sept when the San Fran AVP stop is completed....good times right?

But here are a couple of pics that I found today that made me laugh.....especially since I had dinner with the golden girl last night and hopefully will see my fave hooka tonight! Hahaha...

Me & MMT in SPI YEARS AGO...oh, it was 30 degrees outside...one of my all time fave pics...

Me and Hooka in New Orleans...yes, I do have blond hair here....

How do you deal....

Do you ever wonder why things happen to you or around you? Well, that is kinda the way I have been feeling the last couple of days. Besides feeling completely lost and ready to scream everyday on my drive home...I am going to Texas to see my alma mater on Sat. to see if I would be interested in being the new Head Coach. CRAZY! And to top it off, we hired this new girl, at the AVP, WHO IS FRICKING COOL (Jen if you are reading this...hahaha...awesome)!

As Hoobastank sings in one of their songs ("Out of Control")...I'm Spinning out of control, out of control"! AYE!

The rain is gone...

So, yes, two posts on one day...who knew right? This weekend was one of those weekends that you needed to have, but would not go back and do it again. I had two amazing "thinking" sessions in the last 24 hours. First, was on my drive home from Vegas. Then, today, walking my babies, Blackie and Mocha. We had a mini rainstorm last night and this morning...and now, it is absolutely gorgeous outside. You can see from Catalina to Mt. Baldy...absolutely gorgeous. And even though there are a
few clouds left in the sky (even grey ones) I feel like everything is cleaner and more beautiful. I feel like this is how my emotions have been in the last few days...it was YUCK for a while, but looks ok right now (even though I saw something that made me feel those disgust feelings all over again). Or as the song says so well "I can see clearly now, the rain is gone..."!

"MVP Like Steve Nash"

So this weekend I was lucky enough to get a 4-day weekend so I could head to the "infamous" Vegas Invitiational. On top of that, the NBA All-Star Game was in Vegas at the same time...can we say CHAOS!
It was awesome to see some people I rarely get to see (Chap's & Hooka...2 of my 5 fave girlfriends in the world), except at these national tourneys (my boys know who they are). But I will say, there were some VERY important people missing from the crazyiness (and you guys know who you are)! And on a side note about going out, I really didn't get to see too many stars, except my friend's friend who is in "Men in Trees" and I should have hung with my friend Gavin, and Mario Lopez on Sat night...BUT NO. I made a bad decision...hahaha.

I must say, it was cool to see Steve Nash at the NBA All Star buffet at the Palms on Sunday morning (thanks Kashi). All I keep singing is the line "...MVP Like Steve Nash" in the song "Promiscious Girl" by Nelly Furtado. I have never claimed to be sane, btw. I really couldn't tell you what other players were there, but I know there were a bunch of current NBA players in the house. Hahaha.

Now it is on to more trips, bigger people, and seeing everyone at various locations! YEA!!! Oh, and I will not forget a camera this next time!!

"Gold & Silver er er er..."

So my Valentine's present to myself was going to see the movie "Music & Lyrics". I have been waiting for this movie to come out for a while so it was awesome to see it on opening night! On top of that, being that Drew is my FAVE actress, you know I had to go support! And, even though Hugh is not one of my fave people, he sure knows how to pick some great romantic movies, with some amazing leading ladies! From Notting Hill to 2 Weeks Notice to Bridget Jones Diary (his character ain't may fave, but the movie is amazing)...he has done VERY well in the romantic movie area!

The movie might not have been the most romantic movie I have ever seen (nothing can top Pride and Prejudice), but it made me realize the little things. Quirks can be a plus in someone. And HOW AMAZING IS HUGH AS A SINGER! I am going to buy the album on Itunes tonight! It is not grammy worthy...but it ain't bad either! And "Pop"...wow they nailed the 80's big hair pop thing perfectly! Hahahaha! So go see it if you can!!!

Quotes From My Fave On Screen Heroine's

So last night, after watching the final episode of Sex and the City on WGN and hearing one of my all time fave quotes about love I started thinking about a couple other quotes that I totally agree with and am looking for. Ironic that Valentine's day is next week...but I promise that this has NOTHING to do with it :)!

Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City): "I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love. And I don't think that love is here in this expensive suite in this lovely hotel in Paris."

Ever After: Danielle De Barbarac "Just breathe..." (this one is something I tell myself everyday)

"Prince Henry: And we, princess, are supposed to live happily ever after.
Danielle: Says who?
Prince Henry: You know, I don't know."

Pride & Prejudice (Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth)
"Mr. Darcy: How are you this evening, my dear?
Elizabeth Bennet: Very well. Only, I wish you would not call me "my dear."
Mr. Darcy: Why?
Elizabeth Bennet: Because it's what my father calls my mother whenever he's cross about something.
Mr. Darcy: Well, what endearments am I allowed?
Elizabeth Bennet: Well, let me think..."Lizzie" for everyday, "my pearl" for Sundays, and "Goddess Divine," but only on special occasions.
Mr. Darcy: And what am I to call you when I'm cross? "Mrs. Darcy?"
Elizabeth Bennet: No, you may only call me "Mrs. Darcy" when you are completely, perfectly and incandescently happy.
Mr. Darcy: And how are you this evening... Mrs. Darcy? Mrs. Darcy... Mrs. Darcy... Mrs. Darcy!
[kisses her]" (Fave quote series of all)

From Hollywood to "Italy" this past weekend

So, most people who know me know that it takes a lot these days to get me to go out on a Thursday night. Let alone to a party in West Hollywood. But I decided to be BRAVE (hahaha) and venture out. We ended up going to a party that my friend helped organize for a "cover" girl at Les Deux. The trio (Silke, Cheri, and me) hit the town again! And, for the most part, it rocked! There were a ton of B list actors there, with the occasional A- actor (Jonathan Silverman) wrapped into this outdoor/indoor club. But ya know, as long as I am with those two chicas...I am cool! :)!

Friday was a blur (which, for the most part I did not feel well) to me. Saturday rolled along and it was all about the Italian meal my step mom was preparing for Cheri's belated Grad & b'day party. Woohoo! Yummy meatballs & gnocchi's (one of my all time fave meals). Cheri's HS friends, along with some other friends and our mommacita, joined in the festivities...and of course my sisters, Lori & Kara were there :)! Good food and good company!

And a couple side notes....my car hit 100,000 miles yesterday on the 405 North at El Camino....CRAZY! AND Kristen, my high school best friend, sent me a pic from our HS prom. Or should I say STRAIGHT CLASSIC (my new fave saying)!

Your life ever feel like a song? MINE DOES!

Sometimes I hear a song that just fits me to "a tee".

"Just Be" by Tiesto (a great song that I listen to when I just need to relax)
You can travel the world
But you can't run away
From the person you are in your heart
You can be who you want to be
Make us believe in you
Keep all your light in the dark
If you're searchin for truth
You must look in the mirror
And make sense of what you can see
Just be
Just be

They say learning to love yourself
Is the first step
That you take when you want to be real
Flying on planes to exotic locations
Won't teach you
How you really feel
Face up to the fact
That you are who you are
Nothing can change that belief
Just be
Just be

'cause now I know
It's not so far
To where I go
The hardest part
Is inside me
I need
To just be
Just be

Just be
Just be
Just be

I was lost
And I'm still lost
But I feel so much better

'cause now I know
It's not so far
To were I go
The hardest part
Is inside me
I need
To just be
Just be

And a song that makes me smile (now that I am officially old...haha)
"Dangerous" by Da Buzz
I'm so dangerous...
I'm so dangerous...

I felt that I was old, writing in this room
It's hard to understand, the things that I couldn't change
Suddenly heaven decided to show me a new sensation
I change my direction I'm ready for action
I feel dangerous

I can take it, I can make it, I'm dangerous
Can't you get it, you can't beat it, I'm fabulous
I can take it, I can make it, I'm dangerous
Can't you get it, you can't beat it
Cus I'm so dangerous

All the things are gone, all the waste of time
Now I'm searching for, the glory of my soul
Suddenly heaven decided to show me a new sensation
I changed my direction, I'm ready for action
I feel dangerous

I can take it, I can make it, I'm dangerous
Can't you get it, you can't beat it, I'm fabulous
I can take it, I can make it, I'm dangerous
Can't you get it, you can't beat it
Cus I'm so dangerous..

Ahh Ahh... Im so dangerous... Ahh Ahh...

It's time to go, a taste of thrill
It's time to show what's in my face
Don't look back, don't be afraid
To volunteer could be the change
It's time to live your life

I can take it, I can make it, I'm dangerous
Can't you get it, you can't beat it, I'm fabulous
I can take it, I can make it, I'm dangerous
Can't you get it, you can't beat it
Cus I'm so dangerous..

I can take it, I can make it, I'm dangerous
Can't you get it, you can't beat it
Cus I'm so dangerous
